Jin Yamamoto Exhibition "Beyond and Here - Number of Lives"

Jin Yamamoto continues to create art in a wide range of forms, including oil paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, and ball-jointed dolls. This exhibition features new works using the traditional silverpoint technique, which dates back to before the Renaissance, as well as oil paintings, a subject he has recently refocused on. Copperplate prints and three-dimensional works are also on display.
This is a valuable opportunity to trace the trajectory of his creative work to date and experience the multifaceted charm of Jin Yamamoto, whose art continues to deepen.

The new series, "Number of Lives," is a series of works themed around "the number of lives." It begins with an oil painting featuring countless dots on a blue canvas reminiscent of the universe, symbolically representing the countless forms of life that have existed since the Earth's creation. This is followed by an oil painting evoking the birth of life, a silverpoint work depicting a man and woman side-by-side seemingly merging, and finally, a silverpoint work depicting a cyclamen flower, visualizing even its intricately intertwined roots. These works, seemingly created in different styles, are a series united by the theme of "gazing at the existence of countless forms of life."
In addition, this exhibition will also feature wood carvings and a ball-jointed boy doll that Yamamoto has carefully preserved for many years. The wood carving depicts a girl with bound feet and a pigtail holding a skull, symbolically representing the images of life and death that underlie Yamamoto Jin's world.
